We're Hiring a
Systems Administrator
As a Systems Administrator, you will be part of an integrated team of software engineers, database developers, testers, and business analysts in maintaining mission-critical systems for the government in an AWS (Amazon Web Services) environment (dev, multiple test environments and production).
Responsibilities
- Maintain all AWS hosted environments (Dev, multiple test, and production). This includes keeping the environment operational and properly patched.
- Maintain and support the following applications: IIS Web Server, ColdFusion application server, Oracle database server, and Tableau server.
- Provide input to different status reports.
- Document tasks and steps to monitor and maintain the different environments.
- Author and system configuration management scripts.
- Interface with agency and client help desks to troubleshoot and resolve environmental issues.
- Keep SSL certificates current.
- Keep product version up to date.
- Monitor public forums for zero-day vulnerabilities.
- Respond to various data calls.
- Work with client Shared Services to ensure Production environments are properly backed up and can be quickly restored to operational status.
- Provision and decommission AWS resources as the project needs.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Minimum of 6 – 10 years of systems administration experience.
- 3+ years of production Web application support.
- Bachelor’s degree in technical field, engineering, science, mathematics, etc. (or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree).
- Able to install, configure, and harden Windows and Linux operating systems from a bare system.
- Able to author and maintain system installation and configuration management scripts (e.g., Chef or Terraform scripts).
- Able to read and address vulnerability scan reports (e.g., Nessus, WebInspect, and DB protect).
- Write and maintain System monitoring scripts in AWS OpenSearch framework.
- Strong communications skills:
- Able to work with a help desk to resolve issues (AWS, application, and/or networking issues).
- Able to contribute to different status reports.
- Able to communicate with the development team.
- Able to communicate with project management.
Bonus points if you have:
- AWS Certification: SysOps Administrator Associate
- Oracle DBA experience
Additional Information
- Remote work, with possible travel to Washington, DC up to two times per year
- Ability to obtain U.S. Government Clearance (Public Trust)
